FORT MORGAN
Whether you're staying for a few hours or a few days, Fort Morgan has a great deal to offer visitors.
History buffs will enjoy seeing many cultural and historical exhibits at the Fort Morgan Museum, including a permanent display of Glenn Miller memorabilia and Morgan County history, where visitors gain insights into yesterday and inspiration for the future. Those with a literary inclination will find the city's new state-of-the-art library fascinating.
Active historians will appreciate the walking tour of historical downtown Fort Morgan. This tour features extensive information about the 44 buildings that comprised the early settlement. Fort Morgan has five structures on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Sherman Street Historical District is a delightful stroll into the past. Here, visitors see old city mansions that have stood the test of time in grand style. The homes are prime examples of architecture popular between 1886 to 1926, and are significant for their association with prominent Fort Morgan pioneers. These historical residences include a 19th Century Queen Anne style house, a home with decorative
spindle work porches, a barn, carriage house, water tower and two 20th Century houses both fine examples of basic American Foursquare and symmetrically handsome brick, Georgian Revival styles.
Fort Morgan's expansive park and recreation system offers plenty of camping, swimming, picnicking, as well as plenty of room to roam after a long day of travel. A "playground" for the young and old can be found at Riverside Park, a 240 acre park located along the South Platte River and Interstate 76. One can enjoy such activities as playgrounds, horseshoes, ice skating, fitness trails, duck ponds, fishing, volleyball and baseball diamonds. The nature park offers scenic trails where one can observe mule deer, beaver, fox turkey, and waterfowl living in harmony.
BRUSH
Our logo depicts the diversification of our evolving, progressive community--"The Food and Energy Hub of the Plains." Once a cattle town on the Texas-Montana Trail, we still recognize the value of our agricultural base with crops such as sugar beets, corn, wheat and beans. Historical sites include the Old Knearl School, Eben Ezer Chapel, and The Carroll. Visitors to Brush enjoy the picturesque parks, free camping for the first night, a wildlife reserve, golf and an annual fun-filled event hosted by a community with hospitality know how. The entire county throws out the welcome mat for the many celebrations surrounding the Brush Rodeo every July 1st -4th and the Morgan County Fair in August.
