KEARNEY

Great Sandhill Crane Migration - Each spring some 500,000 Sandhill Cranes, or 90 percent of the world’s population of the birds, migrate through the region, and people from all over the world come to view the spectacular animals. At approximately 3 1/2 feet tall and with an almost-6-foot wing span, anyone who has seen the annual crane migration can tell you the cranes are a must-see. Cranes, one of the oldest know bird species alive, have been stopping on the Platte River for thousands of years since the last ice age formed the Platte River. The Frank House - On the National Register of Historic Sites, this three-story mansion is constructed of Colorado sandstone and features a 5-foot by 10-foot Tiffany stained glass window, hand carved oak woodwork and tiled fireplaces. It is located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney West campus along West Highway 30. It is open June, July and August from 1 PM to 5 PM Tuesday through Sunday. 

Cottonmill Park - Offers a variety of recreational facilities including: swimming, fishing, boat rental, hiking/biking, nature center, petting zoo and playground equipment.

Harmon Park Pool - 31st & 7th Ave. Olympic size pool with large waterslide. Centennial Park Pool - 13th & 6th Ave. Many sandpits surround the Kearney area which are open for swimming.

                                                                      MINDEN

Harold Warp Pioneer Village - Considered Nebraska's #1 attraction and the only Museum of Progress in the U.S. where you can see "How America Grew". Harold Warp a native of Minden, whose parents homesteaded near Minden in the 1890's, designed the museum to show his grandchildren the development of man since the 1830's. The unique circular design and walkways will allow you to see it all and yet walk less than a mile. A motel and large campgrounds are available on site as well as a restaurant. Admission is free on the second day.
